Photoshop would magically create a contact sheet for you. There are actually two download pages, one for windows and one for mac.

The developer contacted Apple on January 31, , and on February 10, , the counterfeit copy of the game was removed from the App Store. A number of news sites have remarked that for all the scrutiny Apple places on apps listed in their store, a counterfeit copy of an existing app should not have made it through the process, and the days it had been since the developer had alerted Apple to the counterfeit software is disconcerting to developers.

An update to Mac App Store for OS X Mountain Lion introduced an Easter egg in which, if one downloads an app from Mac App Store and goes to one's app folder before the app has finished downloading, one will see the app's timestamp as "January 24, , at AM," the date the original Macintosh went on sale. On November 11, , a number of apps purchased through Mac App Store began to fail at launch. Users worldwide got error messages and were forced to delete and re-download affected apps. The company stated that most of the issues were resolved and that troubleshooting information was provided to the AppleCare support team.

Those listed applications are must for Mac users. I am already using most of them you have listed but for remote support I use only specialized appliance from providers like RHUB since I am bit concerned about security.

RHUB is a firewall-friendly and compatible with lock down security. It works on multiple platforms mac, linux, windows and affordable too. Anyway, thanks for the information. Their website is low on details about what sits in the middle between the host and the guest computers, so I'm a little wary about what's going on. They even boast that the app doesn't require administrative rights Folks, that's not necessarily a good thing.

I'm gonna need to know a lot more about what's happening there before I'll give up my current iChat solution. Burn would be an impressive application to have. Creating an application that will allow burning Dvd's without itune's is long overdue. Backing up my files without time machine and using Carbon Copy Cloner?

Perian and VLC, that's amazing. I really hope I win something. Good luck to everyone and may the best man win! I just recently had to upgrade from an ibookg4 to an iMac. These aps are pretty sweet!

How to get free games on your mac 10.6.8

Have to chime in for Dropbox- what an application! What you didn't mention is that you can install this on several computers I have a laptop for consulting, a desktop PC for "personal" stuff, a desktop PC for the office and an iMac. You put the software on each computer, and drop in a copy of anything to which you want access. I have the Dropbox iPhone app, as well, and can access the contents of all of my computers via the iPhone or sitting any any of the afore-mentioned computers and opening up the Dropbox icon.

Thanks for the tips on the others- I'll check them out. This article and contest come at a perfect time for me, as I just bought my first Mac after 26 years of PC use. I just wish I had known about the contest from day one, rather than only finding out about it today via your email newsletter!

I note that there are no links to the developer's site in the Carbon Copy Cloner write up above. Perhaps this was an oversight rather than intentional. Kudos to Mike Bombich for his excellent app. Butler is pretty cool as a launcher and all-around useful utility. SoundSource is cool, and while speaking of audio, Ardour is a multitrack digital audio workstation. If you want simpler editing try Audacity. Tweetie is a nice Twitter client and ElectricSheep is an amazing screensaver. It allows you to switch between windows within an application using the keyboard, and does it in a very slick way.

Let me know what you think! Sign me up for the drawing. Well, it's your contest and you of course have every right to set the rules. But it's a darn shame you require participation in the privacy-invading timesink that is Fakeblechh. It was bad enough when one needed to create a throw-away email account to avoid the spam-rush following so many online "give aways;" now apparently one must sink to the depths of being a public fan-boy. Pathetic, folks. I'm sorry you feel that way. To each is own.

If you don't think giveaways are worth it, then you shouldn't have to worry about joining. Dropbox and Teamviewer are way cool and to be free is unbelievable! The hours I save are colossal! Get them all now! As a college student and a photojournalist, I find myself often pulling long nights with coffee and my trusty laptop. When those nights happen, I also turn on my "Caffeine" app, which is one of the best apps I've ever used.

Basically, what Caffeine does is disable your screensaver for you with a click of a button. Click on the coffee cup icon at the top of your screen, and it fills with coffee and your screen will stay on so you can read for a while, reference your screen and not have to worry about moving the mouse to keep it going.

This is also nice when you're watching movies or showing somebody pictures. Only downside is that having your screensaver off can drain the battery faster, but it's worth it. I came here to also write about Caffeine, but you beat me to it! It's a fantastic app! It's great for me, since I have an iMac and do not need to worry about battery life. I'm surprised Skype didn't make the list!

Macs have the best built-in webcams on the market which makes Skype - Video in particular - a MUST have in my [mac]books! Hi there, thanks for a great list! I thought I had a good idea of the free apps out there for Mac but I still found a couple I didn't have! Anyway, sorry to ask again but I'd love to enter the giveaway but not sure how as I haven't entered one before - how exactly do I do this?

Am a FB fan but can't find entrance info from there either. This may be a little out of place on your list, but to manage my cron jobs I use an application called cronnix.

Download Free Mac OS X 10.6.6 + Mac App Store Now

Its simple, its free, and does a good job of making cron even simpler to maintain. Tinkertool is a great app for modifying hidden system preferences similar in function to TweakUI on Windows. OmniDiskSweeper used to be a commercial app, but is now free. It's very handy when you're trying to clean up space on your hard disk and need to see where the big disk space hogs are.

Maybe I'm being dense, but I couldn't actually find a download link for the Skitch application. Is it required to sign up for their web services too? I just got my new 13" Macbook Pro and I wanted to say thanks for this great list of free apps! I love my new Mac! Oh yeah, Skitch works only with a subscription but it also provides web-sharing with your online account.

I don't do Facebook I'm afraid, never will, I do however follow you on Twitter, will that be a good enough requirement? It is free. I am not a computer geek by any means. I tried a Mac on the advice of someone I trusted. I guess once you use Mac you never go back is quite right in my case. I've discovered that I am getting into computers a little more then I thought. Looking around for the must have things for Mac and seeing what Mr Fox displayed, I am getting reeled in for sure. From Lighthead Software : Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar.

Click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back. Bravo for including Team Viewer and displaying Fantastic Mr. One of the most charming movies I've seen in a good while. You could also use sumopaint. It is amazingly powerful and runs completely in your browser.

And it's totally free. Sounds like a great giveaway. I learn more everyday. Your list of apps here sounds like a good place to start!

Thanks again MUO! I'm pretty sure it's Apple's Time Capsule hardware that's dying after a year. Time Machine software paired with any old external hard drive hasn't had the same problems. This is an awesome list! I switched over myself about 2 years ago from windows to mac. If you need any help or advice just shoot me an email and i can remote in via teamviewer and help you.

It is nice, but it does not recognize my video camera which is Panasonic, I can not use my Air-video because I do not have the supporting software. There are many electronic gadgets which runs only on windows. I am somewhat disappointed with this. Can you suggest some way to resolve this. Didn't know there was so much to be had in the mac community that was free! I'm bookmarking and downloading the files listed here-- Burn, Skitch, and Adium are at the top of my list!

Awesome list. I've been looking for a good free app for image editing and it looks like Skitch will do the trick. Rob Nightingale. Top Deals. Email Facebook Whatsapp Pinterest Twitter. Enjoyed this article?
