Just so all's clear, after you eliminate font cache, go ahead and log out or re-start your Mac. Also, while you're at it, you might run Disk Utility to repair permissions, especially if you recently some system or software updates on your Mac. Austin Laura Guest. I own a MacbBook Pro, and for the first five months I have had no problem at all with typing emails. But over the last two weeks I've been frustrated with the fact that my cursor is about spaces behind what I'm typing. Right now all I can see is words back. I was at the Aopple store this morning and the mac genius said that there's nothing I can do except download the newest version of Firefox software. I already have the latest version. I don't want to have to use Safari!!!

But this cursor being "behind" is driving me crazy. It only happens when I'm typing in email or some other Internet application. Any ideas??? Thanks, laura. You mentioned all fonts were selected, but did you validate them? That would show if there were any problems with your fonts. Also, after using Main Menu and clearing your font cache, did you re-start your Mac?

Finally, what font are you using to compose your email? Some less common fonts can cause problems. If you want you can try to change your email font to a common font. Posted Feb Thu 7th pm Thanks so much for the reply Should I have written the font down? I checked it so I guess it got deleted.

I just tried switching fonts - no luck. Should I maybe uninstall it and then re-download it and see if that helps? Posted Feb Thu 7th pm I doubt the problem is the application.

  8. Follow the installation procedure and replace the old copy in Applications. When you re-start FF, it'll create a new folder and plist file, similar to the ones you moved in steps 1 and 3 above. The difference is that this new folder and plist will be brand new: bookmarks, settings, extensions, themes, etc. So, if anything was bad with the old files, you'll have a brand and clean copy of FF.

You can then copy your old bookmarks from the folder you saved in step 1. Posted Feb Thu 7th pm Try to change the minimum font size or set a different default font, maybe that helps. Firefox seems to detect a wrong font size or a different font is used to display the text. Jamma Guest. Posted Feb Wed 13th pm I too had no problems using firefox until a few months ago. I have a MacBook and use gmail.

Whenever I type email, the cursor is always behind. As I'm typing now, there are no problems. It just seems to be when I am on my gmail.
